Imitating Life Within Books
The best research for a book comes from personal experience, and the real-life interactions we have with our fellow humans. So, how do you find the balance between the true events and a creative telling, in order to enrich the storyline?
Stephen G. Eoannou is the author of the award-winning short story collection Muscle Cars and the novels Rook and Yesteryear. His latest novel, Yesteryear, was awarded the 2021 International Eyelands Award for Best Historical Novel, The Firebird Book Award for Biographical Fiction, Bookshelf’s ‘Must Read’ distinction for 2023, and Shelf Unbound’s Notable Indy Books of 2023. His noir detective novel After Pearl will be published in 2025.

Bruce E. Mowday is an award winning author and newspaper reporter. He has written three books on true crime and has appeared on national and Commonwealth television stations and podcasts in connection with his true crime works. He’s completing a manuscript on the escape from a Pennsylvania prison by international murderer Danilo Cavalcante.

Ellen Crosby's newest book is the fourth book in a mystery series featuring international photojournalist Sophie Medina. She has also written 12 Virginia wine country mysteries and MOSCOW NIGHTS, a standalone. Before writing fiction, Crosby worked as a freelance reporter for The Washington Post, an economist at the US Senate, and Moscow reporter for ABC Radio News. She lives in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. after spending many years living abroad in England, France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and the former Soviet Union. She is now hard at work on her next mystery.
